On my way to Amman, Jordan "En'shallah"

Exciting and happy news...

I am so thrilled to have received my flag for my first post-Amman, Jordan! An amazing place and the position I will have is in public diplomacy (my cone) so I will be on track in the work I want to focus on-perfect fit!

Friday was flag day and my first tour will be in Amman-one of my top choices! I have a lot of work to do to learn Arabic, but there is an excellent language program available at the institute so I am putting myself in their hands-poor teachers LOL. I'll post more info on Amman, but for all you Oprah lovers Queen Rania was just on her show this past week-great interview!

I'll follow up with more information, but just wanted to share the great news!

 Salam

  1. Let me know if you need to do a presentation in your new class. We could learn how to sing "Love Will Keep Us Together" in arabic! Congrats.

  2. I'm really happy for you Karin, travel safe and enjoy your new adventure. I know it's work, but what a journey. Jesus was baptized in the Jordan river, that whole area just gives me goosebumps!
    Take good care,
    Gina

  4. Coming to our neck of the wood, eh? Jordan is great. I've never encountered so many happy and friendly people as when we've driven over to Jordan... And there is a lot of great things to do and see.

    Have fun learning Arabic.

  5. Can't wait to join the neighborhood! I am starting Arabic today and honestly-wow- not so easy. Did you study Hebrew? I am going to stay as open as possible and hopefully be a sponge and absorb as much as I can. I will be here for almost a year so I should be able to learn enough to get to post-en shallah! I've heard the same types of really positive things about Amman and the people of Jordan- sounds like an incredible post! How long are you in Jeruselum?

  6. There wasn't a language requirement for us here. I tried Arabic on Rosetta Stone but time was really limited before we left. Most everyone that I deal with here in Jerusalem has at least a little English.

We're here for at least another 1.5 years.

Coincidentally, Just as I started typing this the Jordan episode of Word Travels on The Nat Geo Adventure Channel.

  7. I am going to have to google that- just starting to get familiar with Jordan. Arabic is actually really fun to be learning right now-difficult, but fun. There is a guy from from A-100 that is coming to Jer. in the next couple of months. I am going to give him your blog address if that's o.k. so he can send you a note and connect. Would you mind? His name is David Martinez-good guy.Let me know...
